A great looking cap starts with a good design. At Captain Captastic we have specialised in caps for 15 years. We know what works on a cap, and most importantly HOW to make it work. All our cap designs are created specifically for caps. A design created for a polo shirt will almost certainly not produce a good enough quality embroidery on a cap. There is no such thing as a universal design when it comes to embroidery on caps.

The first step in the process is the supplied artwork. This must be of reasonable quality, ideally a high resolution image file or good quality print, we can scan. The analogy of silk purse and pigs ear comes into play here. A very low quality image will at best produce a poor representation. Images are then prepared and then loaded into our digitising system where the task of re-drawing them takes place.

The task of digitizing a design is a highly skilled job. A computer helps greatly by filling in the actual stitches but the digitiser still has to draw the design manually. The skill is knowing what's actually going to happen when the cap embroiders. Throughout the embroidery process the design will move and the digitisers job is to compensate for this. Below is a screen capture from our Wilcom digitizing system. Wilcom is the industry standard digitising and editing software.

After digitising the caps are sampled first to ensure the design is perfect before entering production.
We use Barudan machinery for production and have facilities to produce up to 10,000 caps a week. Over the years we have used all the major machinery brands but have never had the consistent good results that we have experienced with the Barudan.
